Florida State / Institute on World War II / Traveling Exhibit
Traveling Exhibit
The Institute launched its first traveling exhibit, Florida in World War II: An Intimate View on the sixtieth anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor December 7, 2001. The opening was held at the Claude Pepper Center, Florida State University, and exhibition remained on display through January 18, 2002.
The exhibit is drawn from Florida-related materials in the Institute's collection of letters, photographs, artifacts and memorabilia. It represents the war-time experiences of Florida Citizens as well as service people from around the country who were stationed in Florida. Original materials were digitally reproduced and mounted on laminated panels.
It was partially funded by the State of Florida Historical Grants-in-Aid Program which allowed it to tour the state.
