Welcome to the Spring 2020 exhibit by the Institute on World War II and the Human Experience. While the exhibit was originally planned to open in April of 2020 at the Chipola Fine Arts Center, the coronavirus pandemic has presented us with the alternative of sharing the exhibit in an online format.

This exhibit highlights women's involvement with the Second World War. Although much of the popular history of World War II focuses on the frontline soldiers that were permitted to wield weapons, women served essential roles within the scope of the war. Women at War: At Home and in Service During World War II showcases women from a variety of backgrounds that assisted in the United States' victory of World War II. Their stories are told through photographs and artifacts within collections in the Institute's holdings.

The women featured in the exhibit fought during World War II in the Army, in Medicine, in the Navy, and on the Homefront. Explore their stories and lives through the records of their military service. Remember their service in their own voices by listening to their oral histories.

This exhibit features over ten collections of and highlights the importance of the Women at War: At Home and In Service During World War II.
