Dell Dinneen was born in New Richland, Minnesota on February 26, 1900. Dinneen joined the Army Nurse Corps on December 29, 1943 but had worked as a nurse for many years before volunteering for service. After induction and basic training, Dinneen was stationed at several locations across the United States before she received orders overseas. From December 1943 to 1946, Dinneen served with the 61st Field Hospital and 110th Station Hospital in the Mediterranean Theater.
